| MEN WANT MORE SEX IN WINTER, SAYS SCIENCE |
Winter weather brings us steamier sex? New research suggests that men have a higher sex drive during winter months. Now we can stop complaining about the cold and start reaping its benefits.
I like to read some news when I have the time and found a recent study published in The Psychology of Human Sexuality, no.. I didn't search it, he found me, but I really enjoy it. In this study 114 men rated their perceived attractiveness of two sets of photos – one of women’s faces, and one of women’s bodies. Shown these images every 3 months over the course of a year, researchers noticed that attraction levels for the images of the faces did not change – but the body images saw fluctuating levels, especially during colder months.
From December to February, attraction levels rose and peaked, while in June, July and August they reached their lowest readings for the entire year. In fact, survey subjects who were in the same relationship throughout the study reported that attraction to their partners peaked in winter as well, proving that even a summer love can become more intense during the winter.
Researchers suggest that all the extra bared skin we see when the heat is on makes for a flesh overload in the minds of men, and the more covered-up wardrobes women wear in winter makes the sight of just a little skin all the more arousing. The unchanging attraction to faces supports this argument, the reason being that faces are seen all year round and thus there are no dry spells surrounding them.
Another study about “Seasonal variations in sexual activity and their implications for sexual health promotion” by the Journal of The Royal Society of Medicine examines weekly condom purchases throughout the year. A heavy spike during the week of Christmas suggests an increase of sexual activity or anticipation of increase in sexual activity. The study also analyzes sexual activity reverse calculated by birth patterns, suggesting that while there is a spike in sex during the summer, there’s an even bigger spike in sex at the turn of the year.

In 2005, University of Groningen conducted a study where he looked into male and female orgasms. The researchers asked 13 heterosexual couples aged 19-49 to participate in the experiment.
During the experiment, the researchers asked one partner to lie down in the scanner while their partner stimulated them until they reached orgasm so researchers could observe their brain activity. And then partners would switch and repeat the experiment.
Originally, this study wasn’t dedicated to finding out whether wearing socks during sex is beneficial or not. However, by accident, researchers found that cold feet played part in how efficient the couples were in reaching an orgasm.
Some of the participants complained about cold feet and so they were given socks to wear during sex. Researchers found that out of those couples who wore socks, 80% were able to reach an orgasm. Before they were given socks, only 50% of those same couples climaxed.
So, happy and warm feet equals more orgasms, right? Well, it turns out not quite.
SO, WHAT’S THE TRUTH?
That study inspired a lot of articles in the media, claiming that wearing socks during sex is the key to having more orgasms for both men and women. However, drawing such conclusions is not quite right.
Studying human sexuality is not an easy feat. It requires a lot of time and effort to conclude any findings to be something that’s conclusive enough to be discussed as the norm. Before sexologists and researchers can conclude that something is indeed proven, there needs to be more than one small study dedicated to researching it.
Saying that socks improve our chances of an orgasm based on this one study is not a reliable source. Sadly, the phenomenon of “warm feet” and its impact on climax hasn’t been studied enough to give us a conclusive answer on whether or not to wear socks during sex work.
However, wearing socks during sex is definitely not something that’ll cause harm to either you or your partner. And, some research suggests that the whole theory is correct if we look at human physiology and psychology.
Wearing socks during sex can be one of the ways to feel more comfortable and safe, which can help your body relax and reach orgasm easier. Just like wearing socks to sleep is preferred by some people because it’s warm and cozy and fuzzy, the same applies to sex.
Another thing that might improve the chances of an orgasm while wearing socks is simple anatomy – wearing socks warms your feet, which means your blood circulation is improved. And what do we know about increased blood circulation? It’s key to achieving an orgasm.
Also, one thing that can ruin an orgasm faster than anything is unwanted distractions. Having cold feet yourself, or having your partner rub their ice-cold feet on you can be an unwanted distraction at the worst time. Wearing socks can help eliminate the chances of any unwanted distractions.

| Safe words? Do we really need them? |
*What Is a Safe Word?*
A safe word is something that you can say–a word or a phrase–during kink or sex activities to indicate that, at least temporarily, you need to stop. It could end play entirely.
Why Do People Use Safe Words?
At its most basic, a safe word is used to communicate how you’re doing with your partner. Typically, a safe word is used to stop play, allowing you to check in and make adjustments before resuming or stopping play entirely if something is wrong that cannot be corrected.
